Lower back pain 16 year old girl?

I've had lower back pain for about 10 weeks, it seems to be getting worse and is really uncomfortable when i sit down or stand for too long, or walk long distances. The pain is generally constant and i find it hard to get up in the morning because it feels so stiff and i get a sharp pain. The pain is really bad if i bend forwards or backwards and i get a shooting pain all down both my legs (not sure if this is linked) that feels like a dull ache, and the side of my hips hurt when i press them (again not sure if this is linked. Also, when i press my back and move it around with my hands it feels quite lumpy, as if something is out of place. The pain is mostly in the middle of my back, but can be on both sides and it's now starting to affect my daily life, for example getting dressed in the morning, and showering has become difficult. I've tried everything i can think of, i've looked up back stretches, heat patches, ibuprofen, exercise, i've been to a chiropractor and had a massage, nothing seems to be working. What could be causing my back pain?

Well my 20 year old sister had that pain to and she still does so your not alone. You should proboaly see a doctor. You might have been sitting on it sleeping on it but you should take some Pain relief medicine.

Sudden lower back pain in 16 year old girl. Please help!?

I am a 16 year old female and whilst walking up the stairs, have experienced sudden sever back pain in the bottom of my back which leaves me in a lot of pain particularly when sitting up straight or bending over. I am not sure what the cause of this is or what the problem is. I have never has any back probelms before and this pain only started about 1 hour ago. I have no family history or back pain and no other medical conditions. Please could anybody that know anything at all about this condition help. Thank you :)

Rachel, I would like for you to try these two movements to see if they stop your problem. Sit in a straight chair and keep the feet and hips planted. Raise the left arm up as high as it can go overhead and note the endpoint. Return the arm to the side and now do the same with the right arm. You will note that one arm went up higher than the other so start with the arm that went up the highest. Raise that arm up as high and hard as you can for 30 seconds and then rest it for 15 seconds. Repeat this twice more and then do the same movement with the opposite arm 3 times. Next, turn the body to the left as far as it can go and note the endpoint of rotation and then do the same to the right. You will find that one direction moves further so start in that direction first. Twist the body in that direction as hard and far as you can for 30 seconds and then rest it for 15 seconds. Repeat this twice more and then do the same in the opposite direction 3 times. Get up and move around. There should be more mobility and less pain. Do this at least twice a day. Also watch your posture. Make sure that your posture is as good as it can be. The better your posture the less likely you are to have back problems.

Is it normal for a 16 year old to have back pain constantly>?

Back pain on 16 year old?

I'm 16 and have been having lower back pain for 3-4 months now. When I'm doing a normal activity I don't feel any pain until I start doing something that involves a lot of movement. For example, when I play basketball, not only does my lower back hurt but it stiffens up completely, I sat out on the bench pretty much all of the games when I was in my school's b-ball team because of this, and I was a starting forward for the JV team. I need to start playing basketball again. Any advice would be helpful. I scheduled a visit with my doctor but that's not until feb.

you might need realignment with a chiropractor.
if you can skip the table with the rolling bar= do, cause in my opinion, it was a waste of money and didn't do jack.
the snapping and popping helped a lot more.

Back pain in a 16 year old?

I'm a 16 year old male. I've been experiencing back tension for months now. That could probably be related to just the Stress of being a teenager. Regardless, that was just uncomfortable. over the past week or two I'd actually say my stress has went down. and the only physical change is starting up marching band. (which has never bothered me before.) I'm having very bad back pain in mid- back area. Right where the latissimus dorsi and trapezius overlap. Just feeling around my back, it feels I have a bulging disc. The pain is in the mucles along the spine. should I see a Chiropractor and/or an orthopedist? What is potentionally wrong?

You go to any dr. and they are going to have you coming back for more than one visit which is silly because this is a problem you can take care of yourself. You have a pinched muscle in your back, it evidently has been getting there for a while now but when you are standing upright and marching it is going to be the most pressure added to that pinched area and is going to hurt like heck. To get rid of the pinched muscle you have to release your back muscles and here's how to do that:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and find the muscles next to your spine and firmly press on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

To me it sounds like you have sciatica. the sciatic nerve has become trapped causing the back pain and the shooting pains in your legs.
Sadly i don't think anything can be done for it!

I have had back pain since i was 13, caused by delivering too many newspapers. You mentioned feeling lumps in your back, I get small lumps under the skin which if I get someone to massage them away it usually takes the pain away, but it hurts like the blazes while they are doing it, use some baby oil like lubricant, never found any of the pain relief "rubons" were of any use, sleep on a firm bed and do gentle exercise to build up your back muscles, most important go and see your doctor, there are pain killers that can help but i have found the best cure is to keep active but use common sense and when you feel the pain coming stop straight away, 50 years of experience.
