How long does it take cefadroxil to work?

I was diagnosed with tonsilitis and strep throat this morning and was put on cefadroxil (expensive as heck)
I've had my second does of it (per doctor's order) and there is not even a little difference. There is less pain, but i think that might be the vicodin talking. How long does it normally take to clear up?

Cefadroxil is normally active within 1 1/2 to 2 hours but it's not a painkiller, it's an antibiotic so you won't necessarily feel pain relief from it.

If your throat continues to be sore, take paracetemol.

A child's dose for cefadroxil is 30mg/kg body weight once a day for 14 days. What is the smallest bottle that?

A child's dose for cefadroxil is 30mg/kg body weight once a day for 14 days. What is the smallest bottle that will provide enough medication to last 14 days if the child weighs 44 pounds?

The answer is: 100 ml bottle of 500mg/5ml but how do you get this answer?

This is the type of problem that you do not think about as a whole but break it down into little bitty steps. First the mass of the child, then total med required, then volume of med given stength
44 lbs / 2.2 = 20 Kg. Mass of child
30mg/kg x 20 Kg = 600 mg per day (Kg cancel out)
600mg/day x 14 days = 8400mg to be dispensed (days cancel out)
Now you are ready to figure out how to get 8400 mg into a bottle and what size the bottle. Medicine comes in doses of 500mg / 5 mL
8400 mg / 500mg/5mL = 16.8/5mL (mg cancel out)
16.8 x 5mL = 84 mL to be dispensed.
Next size up in bottles is the 100 mL bottle
Now in order to learn from this you must walk yourself through it until you understand it. This way you have learned sometthing
Hope you enjoy science

Can any one tell me about generic cefadroxil's side effects?

Onset of pseudomembranous colitis symptoms may occur during or after antibiotic treatment (see WARNINGS). Dyspepsia, nausea and vomiting have been reported rarely. Diarrhea has also occurred.

Allergies (in the form of rash, urticaria, angioedema, and pruritis) have been observed. These reactions usually subsided upon discontinuation of the drug. Anaphylaxis has also been reported.

Other reactions have included hepatic dysfunction including cholestasis and elevations in serum transaminase, genital pruritus, genital moniliasis, vaginitis, moderate transient neutropenia, fever. Agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, idiosyncratic hepatic failure, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, serum sickness, and arthralgia have been rarely reported.

In addition to the adverse reactions listed above which have been observed in patients treated with cefadroxil, the following adverse reactions and altered laboratory tests have been reported for cephalosporin-class antibiotics:

Toxic epidermal necrolysis, abdominal pain, superinfection, renal dysfunction, toxic nephropathy, aplastic anemia, hemolytic anemia, hemorrhage, prolonged prothrombin time, positive Coombs test, increased BUN, increased creatinine, elevated alkaline phosphatase, elevated aspartate aminotransferase (AST), elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT), elevated bilirubin, elevated LDH, eosinophilia, pancytopenia, neutropenia.

Several cephalosporins have been implicated in triggering seizures, particularly in patients with renal impairment, when the dosage was not reduced (see DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION and OVERDOSAGE). If seizures associated with drug therapy occur, the drug should be discontinued. Anticonvulsant therapy can be given if clinically indicated.

does cefadroxil contain sulfur or cephalexin contain sulfur also?

For allergy purposes, neither is considered an "sulfa" drug.

Might the medications fluconazole and cefadroxil ?

delay a period?

No! the fluconazol was given to you to get rid of the yeast caused by the imbalance of the PH in the normal flora for your vagina due to the bacterial infection for which you were prescribed the antibiotic cefadroxil. Neither of which will cause your period to be late
