Is hydrocodone stronger than oxycodone?

I was taken off of percocet and put on norco. The percocet wasn't taking the pain away good enough and they were the 5's and that's what the Norco's are. (5/325) Just wondering why the doctor put me on these and not up the milligram.

Oxycodone is a more potent opioid so 5 mg of oxycodone is equal to 7.5 mg of hydrocodone.

I have no idea why exactly your doctor switched your medications. It could be one of a dozen or more reasons. If you want to know the only person that will be able to tell your is the doctor. And see how the Norco works for you. Not everyone has the same response to drugs- you may find 5 mg of hydrocodone is extremely effective even if it is a smaller amount compared to the Percocet.

What is the equivilence strength between oxycodone vs hydrocodone?

mg per mg hoe much stronger is oxycodone as compared to hydrocodone.

lets say 10mg of oxycodone and a pill of 10mg of hydrocodone. what is the percentage increase in strength?

I think about 2:1. Being that oxy is twice as strong as hydro, but opinions vary

What is stronger oxycodone or dilaudid?

Dilaudid is waaay stronger! When injected 8mg of dilaudid is comparable to 80mg of oxy. So dilaudid is about 10 times stronger.

Although, I have heard that dilaudid is fairly week when swallowed, I think stomach acid eats most of it.

What is the difference between hydrocodone and oxycotin/oxycodone other than being more powerful?

I know that oxycotin/oxycodone is stronger and can more addictive than hydrocodone but what are the other differences in the two. Are they both opiates?? How are they really that different? I know that oxy is really addictive and really strong?

Hydrocodone and oxycontin/oxycodone are two of several new semi-synthetic opioids that have replaced the old favorites like morphine, diacetylmorphine and codeine.

The main difference between Hydrocodone & Oxycontin/Oxycodone is first the strength- (Oxycontin/Oxycodone are stronger) and secondly the patented time release formula coating the the pill.

One or two caplets of Oxycontin can control your pain over a period of 12 hours vs. taking Hydrocodone which would have to be taken repeatedly during a 12 hour period.

When taking Oxycontin/Oxycodone, you are warned not to break the caplet as it will stop the time release coating from working and put yourself at a risk of overdosing.

Both drugs are classified as narcotic prescriptions and one should be very cautious to follow their MD's instructions on use as they are extremely addictive.

Is pms-oxycodone-acetamin stronger than demerol or vice versa?

What is the difference? what is pms-oxycodone-acetamin? is it the same as oxycontin?

"pms-oxycodone-acetamin" is definitely stronger than demerol. First, "pms-oxycodone-acetamin" is a pill made by a Canadian pharmaceutical company called, "PharmaScience" and is a generic for "Percocet". "pms-oxycodone-acetamin" contains oxycodone and acetaminophen (Tylenol). "pms" stands for PharmaScience, and all of PharmaScience's product names start with "pms".

"pms-oxycodone-acetamin" has 5mg of Oxycodone and 325mg of acetaminophen. Oxycontin's active ingredient is oxycodone, however, oxycontin is formulated quite differently and oxycontin pills always have some sort of coating. "contin" means extended release; so oxycontin is a shortened form of "oxycodone contin". So oxycodone is not the same as oxycontin.
